Sharing happiness with grassroots during mid autumn festival

It was mid-autumn festival last week and all volunteers still did not forget to cherish food and help others. On the night of the full moon, volunteers worked hard to collect food in different districts and share the collected mooncakes, bread and meal boxes with grassroots neighbours and the homeless spreading the festive blessings and joy to their hearts through food.  

We very much need your support and welcome you to join us as volunteers. With the participation of volunteers, can we continue to put the concept of cherishing food and helping others into practice in the community.   

Last week, volunteers joined bread and meal box collection and sharing action in nine districts, namely Tai Wai, Fo Tan, Tai Po, Fanling, Sheung Shui, Tseung Kwan O, To Kwa Wan, Hung Hom and Causeway Bay. 923 servings of bread, 80 mooncakes and 39 meal boxes weighing 159.24 kgs in total were collected. The total number of beneficiaries was 495.  

Here were the results of each district:  

Tai Wai: On Friday, 25 servings of bread weighing 2.76 kgs were collected. All servings of bread were shared with the cleaners and scavengers in the district. The number of beneficiaries was 15.   

Fo Tan: On Saturday, 134 servings of bread weighing 20.90 kgs were collected; on Sunday, 103 servings of bread weighing 18.63 kgs were collected. All servings of bread were shared with the cleaners and members in the neighbourhood. The number of beneficiaries was 129.  

Tai Po: On Wednesday, 29 servings of bread weighing 2.68 kgs were collected; on Friday, 15 servings of bread weighing 1.85 kgs were collected; On Saturday, 252 servings of bread weighing 23.84 kgs were collected; on Sunday, 56 servings of bread and 80 mooncakes weighing 9.70 kgs were collected. All servings of bread were shared with the cleaners, scavengers, the homeless and members in the neighbourhood. The number of beneficiaries was 164.  

Fanling: On Tuesday, 95 servings of bread weighing 14.60 kgs were collected; on Friday, 124 servings of bread weighing 17.09 kgs were collected. All servings of bread were shared with the cleaners, security guards, scavengers and the homeless in the district. The number of beneficiaries was 69.  

Sheung Shui: On Friday, 19 servings of bread weighing 1.94 kgs were collected. All servings of bread were shared with the cleaners, the homeless and the elderly in the district. The number of beneficiaries was 18.  

Tseung Kwan O: On Saturday, 41 servings of bread weighing 7.22 kgs were collected. All servings of bread were shared with the elderly who lived alone and night guards in the district. The number of beneficiaries was 26.  

To Kwa Wan: On Wednesday, 34 sandwiches (included in the total bread weight) weighing 6.50 kgs were collected; on Sunday, bakeries were closed and the action was suspended.  All servings of bread were shared with the cleaners, the homeless and members in the neighbourhood. The number of beneficiaries was 25.  

Hung Hom: on Friday, 19 meal boxes weighing 18.53 kgs were collected; 16 servings of bread weighing 1.80 kgs were collected. All meal boxes and servings of bread were shared with the cleaners, scavengers and members in To Kwa Wan neighbourhood. The number of beneficiaries was 29.  

Causeway Bay: On Friday, 20 meal boxes weighing 11.20 kgs were collected. All meal boxes were shared with Victoria Park and Tin Hau’s homeless people and neighbours. The number of beneficiaries was 20.
